The Young Surveyors Network was established as a commission working group under the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) during her 2006 congress in Munich, Germany but upgraded to Young Surveyors Network in Eilat, Israel in 2009. Young Surveyors Network Nigeria was inaugurated on the 27th June,2012 during the Annual General Meeting of Nigeria Institution of Surveyors (NIS) at Ilorin Kwara State.
YOUNG SURVEYOR NETWORK FCT
YSN FCT is a state branch of Young Surveyors Network of Nigeria (YSN NIGERIA).
YSN FCT is a sub group of Nigeria Institution of Surveyor (NIS).
Every Young Surveyor is a graduate of Surveying and Geoinformatics from a reputable and Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) approved Institution.
YSN FCT aims to promote National and International opportunities and experience for young surveyors in FCT, organize seminars, workshops and sensitization exercise for the young professionals.
MISSION
Our mission is to play a vital role in ensuring that all Young Surveyors and students in FCT are well equipped with all necessary technological skills in Surveying and Geoinformatics, through intensive research, symposiums and trainings, thereby creating a platform where we can contribute to the development of the State and the country at large.
OBJECTIVES
- To promote the use of Remote Sensing and Geospatial Information as a tool for decision makers in solving national problems.
- To harness and intimate Young Surveyors with National/International opportunities, changes in the practice ethics for optimal professional practice.
- To promote the image of the profession through seminars, sensitization exercises, conferences, workshops etc.
- To represent Young Surveyors interest within NIS, APPSN, SURCON, FIG, ESRI,C.A.SL.E and others etc.
- To support state, zonal, national and international networks of Young Surveyors by providing a forum for knowledge sharing, skills and experiences.
- To collaborate with Organizations and Agencies in the area of capacity building.
- To seek and foster good relationship among members.
- To advocate and project the relevance of the profession.
